Wellington College China's 2021 Festival of Education promises a roster of renowned educators, researchers, industry experts and thought leaders. They will share their ideas and debate the important issues in a series of talks, panel discussions and workshops. The 2021 Festival of Education Tianjin campus live event is scheduled on 17 April 2021. We are excited to introduce to you the Tianjin keynote speakers for this year:

 

 

Dr Dianjun Wang

Principal, Tsinghua University High School

 

 

Dr Wang is Principal of Tsinghua University High School. He holds a PhD from the School of Mathematical Sciences at Peking University and has worked at the school as an associate professor, professor, PhD supervisor and party secretary.

 

Dr Wang is dedicated to exploring and innovating in education. He laid development plans for Tsinghua University High School to cultivate talent, reform and innovate, as well as fulfil social responsibilities. He built the vision of ‘building a world-class school brand’ with a mission to ‘cultivate future leaders’ and advocated for curriculum development, pedagogical reform, innovative talent cultivation and development in international education. Dr Wang has been awarded the Contemporary Education Master Award; the National Advanced Worker in Featured Education Award; the National Outstanding Principal in Featured Education Award; the National Outstanding Principal Award for Educational Reform and Innovation; and the Outstanding Party Member of Tsinghua University Award, along with many other honours. 

 

Mr Jingwu Yang

Principal, Tianjin Experimental High School

 

 

Mr Yang is the principal of Tianjin Experimental High School, a special grade chemistry teacher and one of the first batch of trainees in the Tianjin Foundation Project for the Future Educators. He holds a PhD in Management Science from Nankai University and serves as vice chairman of the Professional Committee of High School Education of the Chinese Society of Education (SCE). As a chemistry teacher, he aims to cultivate his students’ capacity for critical thinking, experimental investigation and innovative awareness. Under his guidance, his students have won gold medals in the International Chemistry Olympics. As a principal, he has devoted himself to various educational areas as a researcher, an educator and a management expert. He has also published several influential papers on the field of education in Tianjin.

 

Mr Feifei Qian

Senior Sales Director, LEGO Education China

 

 

Mr Qian is responsible for expanding the LEGO Education business in Greater China. He is responsible for leading the China team to promote LEGO Education solutions, providing quality services to schools and teachers as well as building an ecosystem of partners around the brand’s STEAM teaching products and services.

 

Prior to LEGO Education, Mr Qian had more than 20 years of enterprise market experience in China, including many years at Microsoft as product manager of server and cloud computing, director of public sector sales and operations of and general manager of education in Greater China. Mr Qian graduated from Tsinghua University and majored in Computer Science and Technology.

 

Ms Xiaojing Wang

Deputy Head of Education and Skills of the Department for International Trade at the British Embassy Beijing

 

 

Ms Wang is the deputy head of education and skills at the Department for International Trade in the British Embassy Beijing. Since 2016, she has supported the cooperation between the UK and China at both the policy and commercial level. She has worked in Early Years education as well as English language, technical, vocational and professional talent training. In recent years, Ms Wang has helped leverage the UK stakeholders of these sectors’ presence in China, bringing more opportunities to British stakeholders.

 

Ms Wang has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Beijing Jiaotong University, a master’s degree in Translation and Interpretation in Public Sectors from the University of Alcala of Spain and an MBA from the National School of Development of Peking University and University College London.

 

Mr Xueqin Jiang

Researcher at Harvard Graduate School of Education Global Education Innovation Initiative

 

 

Mr Jiang is a researcher at the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Global Education Innovation Initiative, a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and a member of the selection committee for the Global Teacher Prize. In 2008, he built and managed the international programme at Shenzhen Middle School, which focused on teaching critical reading skills and collaboration. In 2010, he built and managed the international division at Peking University High School, a programme that focused on teaching creativity and global citizenship. He then detailed these experiences in his 2014 book, Creative China. Mr Jiang has also worked as a columnist for the New York Times Chinese website as well as China Youth Daily. He currently trains public school teachers in Chengdu in teaching STEAM and project-based learning. A native of China and a citizen of Canada, Mr Jiang graduated with a degree in English Literature from Yale College in 1999 with distinction.

 

Ms Lina Li

Cambridge Assessment International Education, East Asia, Head of Strategic Partnership

 

Ms Li is responsible for the strategic cooperation and business development of Cambridge International in East Asia. She has more than 10 years of experience in the field of international education, focusing on international school development and operation, international curriculum design, resource sharing, and more. She has been invited to multiple Tencent and Sina education forums as a keynote speaker.
