Careers Day at Wellington

In an era of rapid technological advancements, it is crucial to equip our pupils with an informed understanding of the evolving professional landscape. Our annual Career Day, held on November 29th, aimed to bridge the gap between schooling and career paths by inviting a group of professionals from diverse occupations to share their knowledge, experiences, and visions with our pupils. ☛ Learn More
This year's theme, "Interaction, Integration, and Innovation," explored the dynamic relationships between humans and technology, society, the environment, and the government. Through this exploration, we aimed to inspire our pupils to adapt to and thrive in the fast-paced future they will soon encounter. We showcased different professions and how they are being transformed by cutting-edge technologies.
Our speakers this year came from different domains and renowned enterprises, including Artificial Intelligence, Clean Energy, Mechanical Engineering, Pharmaceutics, Architecture, Accounting, Securities, Banking, ESG, Career Consulting, Fashion Design, Gallery and Exhibition Planning, Media, Sports Management, and Psychology.
Prior to the Career Day, we shared the speakers' and enterprises' background information with our pupils and collected their questions to share with the speakers. Our pupils raised brilliant questions, such as "How can Artificial Intelligence be used to solve environmental problems?" and "What are the challenges of working in the fashion industry?" These questions helped our speakers realise how mature our pupils are and in which direction they are more interested in different industries.
During Career Day, our pupils were “transported” to a world of endless possibilities, as they eagerly attended their assigned lectures and interacted with speakers from diverse industries. The air was electric with excitement, as our pupils listened intently to the speakers, absorbing every word and insight they had to offer. To further promote pupils' engagement, the university counselling team designed a thrilling scavenger hunt game that had our pupils racing from one industry to the next, eager to interact and find out the keywords from different industries.
The success of the Career Day was a testament to the unwavering support of our dedicated teachers and the student council. With their tireless efforts, the day went off without a hitch, leaving our pupils with a newfound appreciation for the professional world. It was a day that will be etched in their memories, as it provided them with a glimpse of the future and the tools they need to integrate their current knowledge learning with the current social trends and innovations in their future career paths.
