On April 2nd, Wellington College Tianjin was invited to participate in the 7th World Autism Awareness Day event held by the Tianjin Children's Welfare Institute.

As the sole national children's welfare institution in our city, which receives, cares for, rehabilitates, and treats disabled children, the Tianjin Children's Welfare Institute has been established since 1988. Additionally, it is one of the few welfare institutions in China that has a hospital specializing in rehabilitation.

The event brought more attention and help to children with autism, thanks to the contributions and efforts of all parties involved, it issued a call to society, hoping that more people could pay attention to and help autistic patients, and let them feel warmth and care.

On various occasions, the school has donated the proceeds raised from campus activities including the Chinese Drama, Summer Fair and Winter Fair to charities and organizations supported by the school.

For instance, at the Winter Fair held in February this year, we donated ¥20,000 of the proceeds to the "Yan Jia Ji Hua" project. Out of this amount, ¥10,000 was utilized for the education and rehabilitation of special needs children and their families under the project, while ¥10,000 was spent on education infrastructure, development and innovation, training, and learning. In the future, the school aims to enhance cooperation with charitable organisations by sending senior volunteers to the Tianjin Children's Welfare Institute for community service learning this May, thus fostering a sense of social responsibility among pupils.

At Wellington, pupils, parents, and teachers are encouraged to make a positive impact on their community through a wide variety of charity initiatives.

The College's teachers and staff raised money for the charity Educating Girls of Rural China with a cycling and walkathon.

The College also regularly organises donation drives for underserved communities. For instance, we collected 400 kilograms of clothing to send to Tibetan children in Gannan Autonomous Prefecture.

From the Master

“As the Master, I am pleased to see that our ongoing charity programmes continue to make a positive impact on our community. Our teachers and pupils have shown great dedication and enthusiasm in organising various fundraising events, and their efforts have helped to provide much-needed support to those in need. We have also been able to forge strong partnerships with local charities and organisations, which has allowed us to extend our reach and make an even greater impact. Through our charity programmes, we have been able to teach our pupils valuable lessons about empathy, compassion, and the importance of giving back. I am proud of the work that our school community has done, and I look forward to continuing to make a positive difference in our society.”

OUR VALUE

图片

"Kindness" is one of the five core values of Wellington, showing consideration for others and acting selflessly for their benefit. As Wellingtonians, our pupils, teachers, academic and non-academic teams will embrace the five core values as our standard of interacting with one another and performing our duties. We hope to leverage our resource advantages to provide more practical help to children and create a more friendly and inclusive environment for these special children to grow up in.
